Christmas Loves

Christmas Loves

I absolutely love Christmas, as soon as Halloween is out of the way it’s all systems go. I do start Christmas shopping much earlier, with 6 children to buy for I can’t wait to last I love going shopping and seeing all the beautiful gifts out on display, the stores transforming themselves into winter wonderlands, Santa’s Grottos popping up, children beaming queuing. The smell of chestnut vender’s carts as you pass them in the street and of course my favourite the Christmas Market, outs is just so beautiful situated in the grounds of our City Hall, I adore the foods on offer, the beers in the tents and the festive cheer.  I also find it a massive time to reflect and remember loved ones who have passed with fabulously fond memories, which I’m trying to recreate with my own family now.

There is nothing better than giving and I take great pleasure in buying for others, online sales are hit massively in my house, its’ so much easier for me but now I have more free time I may venture into town more, hooray. Which do you prefer? Home shopping or going out and picking off the shelves yourself?

I’m also rather fond of bargains and I will buy lots in the sales. Do you bargain hunt so you can buy more? Or do you leave it to the last minute and panic buy?

Come the 1st December and the morning of The Elf On The Shelf’s arrival the tree goes up, this year I’m planning on going back to a standard tree with the hope the smalls leave it alone, I also have a beautiful tree topper coming from America, I can’t wait until it arrives. I adore seeing other peoples houses decked for Christmas, lights twinkling, bows and decorations adorning branches. We all approach of home decoration in such different way, our own personal stamp on a timeless tradition. Do you like traditional trees?

Please do share any of your loves, I would like to hear them.

Christmas in your family has to be very exciting not to mention a lot of work! After I moved across the country from my family and friends a few years ago, Christmas has consisted primarily of just my husband and I (sometimes his teenage daughter is around, but not always). As of last year, we decided to forego Christmas presents and instead do things as a couple that we have been wanting to in order to make memories. Since it’s such a sentimental time of year, I also tend to think of fond memories of loved ones. It makes me smile to myself as well as shed a tear or two. Have a wonderful Christmas!

I like all the color, lights and decorations this time of year too. People have their house all decked out in lights, or those inflatables are covering their yard. Lights strung in trees and holiday music playing. I do like to see my kids excitement but it would be nice if it were more then just the anticipation of gifts. Yes as a mom of 4 you are right shopping at the last minute is headed for disaster and stress.

Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year! This year, Christmas will be a totally new experience for us: it will be our first sunny Christmas (in California) after a lot of snowy Christmas times in Europe. 🙂

Definitely leave everything to last minute shopping. I find myself being more productive that way haha

I try and pick up bargains throughout the year but end up leaving all the wrapping up until the day before Christmas!
