Getting Ready For Autumn

The summer went as fast as it came this year. We are now nearly half way through September and we are getting ready for autumn at home. I must say I am not a huge fan of the upcoming seasons, mainly as I’m very much a sunshine kind of girl. That said I do love taking walks through parks with autumn leaves lying at my feet. As we progress into winter I crave the crisp mornings and hope for little flurries of snow. As you guys know we have recently moved home so we are getting our new house autumn ready. Out come the blankets for the sofas and beds. Winter cinnamon infused candles, and the fire is plugged in for that nice glow come the dark evenings.

Getting Ready For Autumn

Come autumn time we love nothing better than snuggling up on the sofa, candles on and a blanket wrapped around us. I adore the autumn candle scents that there are on the market, though I am drawn to them all year round and they can often be smelt wafting from my wax warmer or from a jar. Another must for us as a family is large mugs of hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and marshmallows, who doesn’t love this warming drink on a cold night. Around this time of year, I also get the families autumn and winter clothes out of storage and pop the summer items away. I’m very much a cozy knit girl and I adore soft brushed cotton PJs for bedtime. We have also been stocking up on warmer gear for the boys I have recently talked about our new winter additions from JoJo Maman Bebe and Blade and Rose. As a family, we also love having fresh bright flowers on display to help brighten up the home a little more.

Do you guys make many changes coming into Autumn/Winter?

I am all excited about Autumn. I love this time of year and having the heating on, blankets and cushions lying around, nice warm drinks and hearty soups. I am all excited about it. P.S Where did you get the fox cushion from in the image it’s the same design as my kitchen blind! I’d love to get one!

I’m always not too sure about Autumn, I like being inside all cosied up with a onesie, a cuppa and listening to the weather outside, but I’m never too fond of being out in it! I always describe myself as a cold blooded reptile who constantly needs one of those heat lamps to keep warm lol. However I have got a lot of candles that I would love to start burning and I kinda am excited about getting the big fluffy coats, scarfs and pom pom hats out 🙂

I believe any subshine gal can learn to embrace autumn/winter. I bloody love the colder months and it’s the first A/W that I’ll be spending in my current flat so I’ll be taking the opportunity to purchase lots of chunky throws, cushions and leaf wreaths.

Even though I am a sunshine person, I am not so much a humidity person, so I am loving that fall is here… well almost! We usually change decorations to fall instead of patriotic.

I love Autumn so much!! I’ve been baking lots of apple and blackberry crumble’s lately – which makes the house smell incredible! I’ve also been pulling out all my winter jumpers and blankets! 🙂 xx

My folks have just added throws to the sofas and bed to make it a bit warmer. Can’t beat lighting candles to make it more cozy too x
