So when I and the husbot manage to escape from the kiddies we do love to go and stay in a hotel in the city, I use it as a massive treat, so we do stay somewhere lush. Today I’m talking about Belfast Hotels, Our Favourites
My favorite Belfast Hotels have got to be The Merchant Hotel where parts of the fall are filmed and located in the very funky Cathedral Quarter and The Fitzwilliam Hotel where we got married located in the heart of the City.
The Merchant is just the height of decadence; from the minute you pull up outside to the minute you leave you will explore the most extravagant of visits. We have only ever stayed in the older part of the Hotel which is actually the vaults of the old bank that the Hotel was built around. Many of the original features still exist which is absolutely stunning to see. The older side of the Hotel is based very much on oldy worldy theme around the era of when the Hotel was built, luscious drapes and heavy fabrics adorn the window, the bedding of the same style.
The Hotel houses Harper ( an awesome name I may add) a shop laden with the most sought-after designers including Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, and Miu Miu to name a few.
Also located within the Hotel is a fantastic spa where you can book in for daily treatments if not a guest or pop upstairs if your staying, booking advisable.
One thing I love about this hotel is the opportunity to have afternoon tea in the Great Room Restaurant. If you want to have a special afternoon, a girlie escape, a mum’s day or take your other half, this is one place to definitely consider going, very reasonably priced, it allows you to sample the complete package and decadence that this fantastic hotel has to offer. With delicately made sandwiches, cakes, bread and scones whats not to love.
The Hotel also houses a really popular Jazz Bar called Berts, located at the front of the building it’s brimming with locals and visitors enjoying an evening surrounded in decadence and listening to the best that local Jazz has to offer.
The Fitzwilliam nestled beside the Grand Opera House will always hold a special place in our hearts as its where we held our wedding, extremely modern and again with lashings of rich velvets this 4 star hotel offers the complete package, from the most basic of rooms to the suites and then the Penthouse no corners have been missed in the design and thought that has gone into the hotel.
We tend to stay when they offer a package, which means, a room of your choice (price reflecting) meal and breakfast. I can’t fault the Restaurant in any way. Dimly light with intimate booths it really offers you the personal experience. The food is beyond delicious all made and designed by the new French Head Chef.
Downstairs you will find the Cocktail bar and by golly they are absolutely scrumptious, again little booths line a side of the bar giving you the opportunity for a more intimate evening. The cocktail list is vast, copious amounts of wines and spirits to choose from. In fact, you don’t even need to venture outside the Hotel of an evening.
If you do ever stay in my fabulous city these are definitely the most luxurious Hotels we have stayed in, tho we are getting an influx of new Hotels in the near future so maybe we will venture to one of these to stay and I will be sure to let you know.
Have you ever been in Belfast and stayed in either? Or can you recommend another amazing Hotel that we may not have tried?
