For my cough 40th birthday my darling husbot treated me to a day at the Culloden Spa. 4 whole hours of no children, no phone, no noise and it is all about ME hooray. I was worried about going as it’s an experience I haven’t had before. Yes, I have been for multiple facials and beauty treatments just never had an extended appointment. I was booked into the Culloden Day Spa on my birthday day.
Culloden Hotel Day Spa
When I arrived I was greeted by a lovely member of the reception team who immediately put me at ease with her warm and friendly mannerisms. I was shown to a small seated area beside the reception and asked to complete a consultation card and pick a light lunch from the menu provided. As I was here for a day half day, lunch was included, happy days, I get to eat without the smalls pawing over my food. After handing both over the day was to begin.
I was guided from reception along the poolside to the rear of the spa, one thing was apparent from the off, the attention to detail, I expected it to be fabulous as the spa is after all attached to the 5 star Culloden Hotel home to the rich and famous, and it exceeded all my expectations, luxurious touches that most certainly didn’t go unnoticed. Dimly lite corridors lead the way to the changing rooms, a luxury once again greeting me. Each spa guest has the use of a locker for their stay, robes, and slippers already waiting. I was asked to get changed and make my way back to the Juice bar which is located on the poolside, where my lunch will be waiting. Seriously not used to being laid on hand and foot this is one experience I’m going to savior.
Lunch was lovely I picked a panini with a side salad, it was so lovely just sitting eating and watching others having a splash.
After lunch, my therapist guided me from the relaxation room to my therapy room. I must say the room was just beautiful, lush velvets, dim lighting, soft music playing in the background. We continued my consultation which involved selecting the scent I wanted to be used for my body massage and facial. Apparently, you’re drawn to the scent which indicates problem areas in your skin ie congestion, I found this very fascinating.
Welcome Foot Ritual
My session started with Welcome Foot Ritual, this was fantastic, I was seated on a luscious velvet seat, feet dipped in a Luke warm bowl, whilst my therapist exfoliated my lower legs and feet. I’m so not a foot person, so giggled like mad. once completed I hopped on to the bed for my main therapy’s to commence. The husbot had picked which I was getting prior to my visit and the boy did good.
Salt and Oil Exfoliation
To start off I had a Full Body Salt and Oil Exfoliation, large salt grains mixed with oils where rubbed over my body, it felt a bit odd to begin as its definitely something I’m not used to but it felt amazing after this. I then had to shower off the salt particles, each room has a shower room attached, it was actually really roomy and contained the lovely ESPA products that the spa uses.
ESPA Back Massage
ESPA Back Massage with Hot Stones was next, I loved every single minute of this, I’m very much a lover of massages. The stones felt amazing being rubbed in, it definitely made me feel very relaxed and at some points, I had to fight to stay awake. This was followed by another massive love of mine, I adore having my hair played with and the Oriental Scalp Massage was just utterly divine.
SPA Aromatherapy Facial finished my therapy in the room this included cleansing, exfoliation, steam and a treatment specific massage, mask, and intensive serum.
We then moved across the corridor to the nail room, I loved this area, again adorned with luscious velvets and high back seats, attention to detail not spared at all. My final bit of luxury was a manicure.
I must say this was a very much welcomed and needed gift, something I plan to do again myself soon. If you’re stuck on ideas for a loved one for Christmas or Birthdays this is definitely something I would recommend, worth noting the Spa has continuous offers on, plus they do regular beauty treatments as well so you don’t need to book the full package like I had. If you also book a longer treatment you also have use of the Hotels gym which is located right beside the spa, so you could most certainly make a day of it here.
